God wants us to be Healed, Whole, and Delivered

I saw a commercial the other day for some kind of medicine. I’m not sure what kind it was, maybe for arthritis, but what I noticed was that the list of side effects was extensive and well, I think death was probably one of the side effects. I’m serious. I think it said something about heart failure, and well, we need our hearts to survive. I told my mom that I’d rather deal with the arthritis or whatever it was than face the side effects of the medicines. But then it hits me. We don’t HAVE to put up with anything. God wants us to be whole, healed, and delivered.

1 Peter 2:24 (ESV) states, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” Notice the “you have been” part of that verse. That means we were already healed. That healing is ours for the taking. So why are we putting our faith in the medication that could cause heart failure?

It’s not easy, putting our very health in someone else’s hands completely. It’s not that we want to be sick, it’s just that “Well, it happened. What else can I do?” attitude that is keeping us in our current state of mind. Not only that, we put our faith in medications and other remedies to heal us when in fact, we only have to pray and receive for our healing.

This faith doesn’t even have to do solely with healing. What else do we need in our lives? Why don’t we have them? Are we not putting enough faith into our prayers? Do we even think that it’s worth praying for?

I can tell you that no matter how small your request is, God will answer it, and He will supply whatever need you have.

Don’t limit what God can do for you. He wants to help us succeed in our social, emotional, physical, and financial aspects of life. Most importantly, have the faith that NO MATTER WHAT, God will in fact hear your cries. He will heal you. He will deliver you.

Psalm 100 v.3 Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. v.5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

  2. As someone who has chronic health issues that were made worse when I listened to doctors, I SO agree about the meds out there. Due to chemical sensitivities, there are very few medications I can take that do NOT cause me to manifest a whole host of those lovely side effects they like to rap off like an auctioneer. I'd be totally disabled, or dead, at this point if I'd continued listening to the doctors instead of turning to God.

I've not been physically healed, and I know that's not God's plan for my life, but He has led me to natural medicines and diet information that allow me to be functional and content instead of totally disabled and grumpy. *G*

The main thing the Lord has done though is help me see that my chronic illness serves a purpose - HIS purpose. If I weren't chronically ill, would I be so strong in Him? Nope. I'd be going my own way, doing my own thing, just like I did before I got sick. My chronic illness keeps me close to Him (like Paul's thorn in the side), plus it keeps me focused on the ministry He has for me - writing. Even when my body is having a really bad day - I still write. I know now how chronic illness fits into His plan for my life, and I embrace and trust His plan. :)

  3. I believe God wants everyone healed, spiritually, and bodily, right NOW! I believe God wont force us to take His FREE gift though. God doesn't need sickness to fulfill His purpose for us. He is GOD, He can talk to us when we are healthy, mind, body and spirit, as well as if we were sick in some way. I Jesus Christ was standing in front of someone who wasn't whole in one or more aspects of life, I TOTALLY doubt that He would tell the person to keep his mental demons, or physical demons, because that is getting them closer to His father. That is absurd thinking. He NEVER did that while walking this earth. That is NOT what compassion or love looks like. Would a mother make her child hold onto his/her broken leg because it keeps the child in the house with her and closer to her?? NOWAY!! If she had the power she would say "leg be healed" and it would, despite that she may be enjoying their "couch" time together. But we as people listen to the enemy, the king of this world too much. We give out sickness a "way out" if we say, it is keeping us closer to God...God would never have said all the things about healing in the bible if it weren't true. Jesus would not have told us to only believe what we ask for will happen if it weren't true! We have a lot of faith as people, but the problem is we have faith that doesn't have a source. We need to start believing that Jesus is that source, and believe when we tell a fig tree or a disease for wither up and die at the roots, that it HAS. Because that's how simple it is (and hard) for that matter. Maybe we have schooled our minds right out of the promises of Christ. We have gotten too smart. Lets get back to being child-like and believing in God, and being assured that He wants good things for us now!! The bible was written and breathed by God, for our time on this earth, not for the time in heaven. Is anyone else tired of hearing we will be made whole in heaven?? Of course we will. But Jesus never said to someone wait until you get to heaven then the love and healing of my father who sent me will make you whole. NOOO, His love and compassion healed them on the spot!! That is the Jesus of the bible and that is the Jesus I want. Maybe for some that is the true Jesus that is too hard to believe in, because the enemy has blinded them. But Pauls thorn in the flesh could have been anything, maybe it was another person that kept giving him a hard time..The truth is We don't know. And Maybe the third time when he asked to be healed of it, and God said "my grace is sufficient for you" we assume that he still wasn't rid of the problem. But, did it ever occur to us that when God spoke the third time paul was in fact healed?? It has to me..I wonder. And even if the problem didn't go away, the bible is more full of all the times when Jesus healed the multitudes. Multitudes...thousands. Maybe we should try picturing Jesus right in fromt of us when we ask something of Him, and see what our answer is. Healing, health, needs met, are His will..Lets try to wrap our minds around that..

    1. I for one, completely agree! If the Bible says "were healed," doesn't that mean we ARE healed? I mean, it's hard sometimes to accept it, but the way you described it is perfect. God has used that example about me doing anything I could for my nieces and nephews and compared it to what He does for me. He's already healed us, and yes, it's true, we have no idea what was bothering Paul. It could have been him obsessing over his past, something we all do. It could have been anything. We definitely need to wrap our minds around what you said. Thanks for voicing your opinion. I can't tell you how much I agree with you!
